The liver being the largest glandular organ in the human body serves over a thousand functions and is the main detoxification method of the human body. Many of these functions are vital. You can not liver with out a liver. But if only quarter of your liver is functioning you can still live due to it's power regenerative properties. Liver means "to live". It can also means a person living a certain life style "a high liver". The liver transforms nutrients into usable energy for all the organs in the body.  The liver also manufactures proteins and metabolizes and stores carbohydrates, which are used as the source for the sugar (glucose) in blood that red blood cells and the brain use. One of the things the liver produces is bile. Bile is a highly alkaline (9.5 PH) yellow/green/brown liquid that digests and emulsifies fat and cholesterol. Bile is the MAIN way fat and cholesterol can leave the body. People over weight or obese may have liver problems like fatty liver disease and liver and gall stones that inhibit the production and storage of bile causing excess fat and cholesterol deposits in the body.

Bile is produced in the liver and stored in the gallbladder. From the liver it is carried through the hepatic ducts and capillaries and through the large common bile duct where it is carried into the gallbladder. From the gallbladder bile travels into the small intestines where it is mixed with the hydrochloric acid of stomach. The hydrochloric acid of the stomach would burn the small intestines if it wasn't for bile. When stomach acids and bile mix with the food in the intestines it creates a perfect environment for for digesting and absorption of nutrients. The nutrients are carried throughout the body. Bile also supports proper immune function in the intestines. A large part the the bodies immune system is located in the intestines.

People with drug and alcohol addictions often have liver damage, excessive alcohol causes alcoholic fatty liver disease. Fatty liver disease can lead to fibrosis (lesions and scarification) of the liver. After fibrosis comes cirrhosis, known as "cirrhosis of the liver". There are 4 stages of cirrhosis 1,2,3 & 4 the later being the most severe and life threatening.  Liver cirrhosis in the early stages can be reversed by following a liver cleansing diet. The liver cleanse diet consists of a mostly raw food diet. Raw food is alive and living with all the enzymes and life force intact. The enzymes in raw fruits and vegetables as well as sprouted legumes, grains, seeds and nuts support the liver and it's function. Cooking your food above 105 degrees kills these vital liver enzymes and life force contained in the food. Organic food contains more life force than non organic food, buy organic when available.  Stay away from fatty foods like sausage, bacon and pork, these foods contain excessive cholesterol which form fatty deposits in the body and liver. Too much cholesterol in the body can lead to liver and gall bladder stones which cause many health related problems. Stay away from coffee, sugar, all junk food, pesticides, hormones, most pharmaceuticals, artificial favoring, artificial coloring and artificial sweeteners as they all cause liver damage when consumed in excessive amounts.

After cirrhosis of the liver come necrosis of the liver which is an advanced stage of liver disease which may not be reversible in most cases. Although it is possible to reverse necrosis of the liver over a long period of time of following the liver flush diet. Reversing liver necrosis may take many years of healthy diet, exercise and rest. Necrosis of the liver happens over a long period of time, why should the reversal be any different. After necrosis is liver failure which is pretty much non reversible.

How To Maintain A Healthy Liver

The importance of proper rest, exercise and nutrition is one of the key's to keeping your liver toned and in optimal condition. A clean diet of mostly fresh raw fruits and vegetables can help a sluggish or fatty liver become healthy and alive again. A liver flush diet consists of liver cleansing foods, liver cleansing herbs, liver cleansing juices, liver cleansing teas and liver cleansing tonics. Eat lot's of raw unprocessed uncooked whole organic fresh fruits and vegetables and stay away from fatty foods like processed and deep fried meats, sugar, dairy, chips, pop, butter, margarine, candy etc. Healthy meats include seafood like prawns, salmon, cod, shark, tuna, mackerel, sardines, anchovies, herring, and trout. They contain healthy oils that support optimal liver function.

Urine Therapy is one of the best keep secrets to maintaining a healthy and vital liver. Urine what? That's right drinking your own urine is the perfect medicine for your body and for your liver. Not only does it cure cuts, wort's, acne and eczema. But there are many case studies of it curing tumors, hepatitis, cancer and aids. There is no eating during the master cleanse and it is safe to do for up to 40 days. I have done the master cleanse for 10 days three times and once for 20 days. The first 3 days are the hardest while getting hunger pains. After day 4 it is just mind over matter. Your hunger pains stop and your body begins a rapid healing process. If you are overweight the master cleanse is also a good way to lose some unwanted pounds. Some people do better taking time off work for this cleanse others can put in a full day and still have more energy than they normally would have. In this fast your body gets everything it needs to sustain it's self. The lemons gives you lots of vitamins and nutrients while the maple syrup gives you glucose for energy and the cayenne powder builds healthy tissue while you lose unhealthy tissue during the cleanse. People who are recovering from drug and alcohol abuse should not do the master cleanse unless your your doctor advises you to.
